The Road to Resilience
A Memoir of Overcoming Adversity
Book 2 of 3: Resilience Reborn – The Path from Struggle to Empowered Existence
Exploring Resilience in Everyday Life
The Road to Resilience is the second book in my three-book series. This memoir looks at how perspective, change, and everyday choices have shaped my understanding of resilience.
Making Sense of Difficult Experiences
Life has asked me to face fear, uncertainty, and difficult personal experiences. In this book, I reflect on how those experiences changed my perspective, not by denying what was painful, but by learning to live with it in a more thoughtful way.
For Your Own Reflection
This memoir is drawn from my experience, but it leaves room for readers to think about their own lives. Rather than offering a formula, it provides a starting point for looking at the beliefs, habits, and expectations that influence the way we respond to difficult moments.
- Questions that encourage honest self-reflection
- Thoughts on recognizing patterns that may no longer help
- A personal perspective on adapting to change
- Space to consider what resilience means in your own life
For Difficult Seasons
Health concerns, grief, disability, and daily pressures can affect the way life feels and the choices available to us. The Road to Resilience does not promise to solve those experiences. It offers a thoughtful perspective for readers who want to sit with their questions and consider how to keep living meaningfully through them.
What This Book Invites You to Consider:
- How personal values can help guide difficult decisions
- The difference between simply getting through life and living with greater intention
- How past experiences can inform, rather than control, the future
- What a more personal definition of resilience can look like

About Me
Born with arthrogryposis, I have lived with physical challenges that have shaped my perspective on disability, accessibility, identity, and resilience. My experiences with addiction, homelessness, and recovery have also influenced the way I write about adversity and change.

I am an award-winning author, inspirational speaker, and disability advocate with three college diplomas and more than two decades of sobriety. My three books, KEEP on WALKING, The Road to Resilience, and Resilience Redefined, explore different parts of my lived experience and the lessons that have emerged from it.
Through writing, speaking, and workshops, I create space for honest reflection on resilience, recovery, identity, disability, belonging, and continuing forward when life does not unfold as expected.
